SOL on the Baikal lake

On a ski trip with blind and deaf people on the Baikal lake in Siberia, French SOL Ambassador Jean Nerve took the opportunity to distribute 250 Vuarnet sunglasses to the local people.

Lake Baikal is located in Siberia. It is 640 km long and 80 km wide, with a maximum depth of 1640 m. It is the largest amount of liquid fresh water in the world.

This year in February a group of non-blind and non-hearing people spent a week skiing on the frozen lake and the mountains around its shores. The purpose of this expedition was to make known their handicap, to prove that it did not prevent them from acting and to go to distribute to the local people sunglasses to protect their eyes from the UV of the sun.

Mission accomplished !

We did not get lost in this white desert

We did not fall into the water at 0 degrees

We marveled at the darkness of the Siberian nights

And together with all my sightless and hearing impaired friends, we poured together a few drops of warm and salty emotions into this ocean of frozen fresh water
